Protection from temporary noise sources faces considerable difficulties (construction sites, open-air concerts, leisure and sports activities). However noisy machines in particular are constantly changing locations and run during a limited time. SATTLER CENO’s inflatable noise protection wall has especially been developed for this purpose and ensures mobile and effective noise protection wherever it is needed.
In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP) and the University of Stuttgart,
SATTLER CENO developed these especial elements for temporary noise protection. The inflatable, mobile CENO-WALL is the most effective solution for sound isolation and does not stand behind stationary noise protection walls in terms of efficiency.
Through several technical measurements and the corresponding calculation methods, the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (IBP) was able to confirm the effectiveness of the CENO-WALL for noise insulation.
The results show that by using these inflatable noise protection elements alone, a sound insulation factor of more than 20 dB can be achieved. ʽInflatable noise protection elements represent a relevant novelty in the noise abatement field due to their favourable sound absorption properties and to their versatile use. In practice, their acoustic technical behaviour barely stands behind the behaviour of conventional systemsʼ. (1)

The CENO-WALL consists of a plastic-coated double-shell fabric. The outer shells of the fabric are merged together through many yarns that work as spacers. This special structure ensures excellent form stability and resistance. Thanks to the modular design, the length and the height of the wall elements can be quickly and easily customized to meet specific customers’ needs.
Due to the perfect combination of material and filling pressure the CENO-WALL can achieve a noise reduction up to 20 dB in the medium frequency range, and at high frequency, noise can be reduced by up to 44 dB.
The wall elements weight about 40 kg and can be set up by two persons with minimal effort. The wall elements are filled with an air compressor. Special supporting pillars, with a static up to wind force 6, ensure the necessary stability. Depending on the local circumstances and if technically possible, existing scaffolds on site or similar structures can also be used to assemble the wall. D-rings are located on the front side of the CENO-WALL. These rings ensure a fast and easy fixation to almost any kind of framework.
The single wall elements can be tied together to save space and to offer a cost-effective solution in terms of storage and transport. Up to 5 folded elements fit into special especial storage and transport boxes.
Sattler‘s CENO-WALL can be used for diverse projects and applications. Below you will find a selection of reference projects and applications.
